Sessions

Each session is uniquely designed to address the individual client's specific desires and needs. The session may include strokes from different modalities such as Swedish and Myofascial. The intent is to serve the client with the most effective touch possible to meet their needs for the session.

Types of Massage

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility. Swedish strokes are used in almost every session to warm the tissue and prepare it for further treatment. This lighter approach is great for flushing already sore tissues, sports flushing areas that are healing from an event. It's also perfect for those suffering from fibromyalgia, or just like the lighter side of massage. No modality is better than another - they are just different techniques for different purposes.

Myofascial Deep Tissue Massage

Myofascial massage helps to release chronic tension patterns in the body using slow strokes and varying pressure to specific areas and tissue depth. This technique can also be deeply relaxing. Throughout our body, there is a matrix of tissue called fascia or connective tissue. Sometimes it has to be addressed just as specifically as our muscles do -- more so for some folks.

If sometimes you feel "stuck" or "sticky" it may be your body telling you that your fascia and/or muscles are dehydrated or may be just a little eschemic (lack of blood flow.) This work can help get that blood flow into all those little nooks and crannies and warm the tissue so that more specific work can be done to the muscles to increase quality and range of motion.

Reflexology

Reflexology involves massaging the feet, hands and ears. By manipulating these areas, the therapist targets specific areas of the body to address pain or discomfort throughout the body. Reflexology also works with the systems and energy of the body.

Pregnancy Massage

Pregnancy is a time in which a woman’s body endures tremendous stress due to dramatic physical, mental, and emotional changes.  Using various techniques specifically for the expectant mother, pregnancy massage helps alleviate discomforts experienced throughout the pregnancy.  The benefits are profound, including emotional support, the reduction of joint pain due to extra weight and postural imbalance, improved breathing and relaxation, and relief from uncomfortable digestive issues.

Pregnancy massage uses gentle techniques to help alleviate discomforts associated with pregnancy, including lower back pain, fatigue, swelling, and joint tenderness. I usually have my mothers-to-be bolstered laying face up and/or on their side for comfort. Please ask your doctor about getting massage before you book an appointment. I usually do not like to work with women until they have safely passed the first trimester mark.

Our Health Garden Signature "Melt Your Muscle Massage"

A mix of Swedish ~ Deep Tissue ~ oiled hot stones = a massage tailored to fit your specific needs for relaxation and stress relief.

Hot Stone Massage

Hot stone massage uses volcanic basalt stones which are heated in a water bath and placed on the body in specific patterns to encourage deep relaxation. The stones are then used to massage deep into tired muscles for a relaxing experience that is unrivaled.

The Attitude Alteration

Only shoes are removed for "The Attitude Alteration" -- a highly appreciated therapeutic technique that includes rocking, jostling, traction and compression to relax the whole body. It is a quick way to ground and center before a meeting or long drive home. This one is a great deal -- only $20 for 15 minutes to give your attitude an amazing face lift!!

Chair Massage

Chair massage treatment uses a specially designed chair for clients to sit in during the massage. The client remains fully clothed during the session. During the session, the client receives treatment on the back, arms, head, and neck. This is an excellent modality to take on-site to provide massage for many people. Sessions often last only 15 to 20 minutes each, but the benefits last a long time. A great tool for employers that want to provide their employees a refreshing massage during stressful work days.
